Cooling Refrigerants of the Future.

Stored in your air conditioner’s coils, refrigerants are liquids that cool and dehumidify your air. If we didn’t have refrigerants, we wouldn’t have air conditioning. For a long time, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, it will no longer be legal to produce R-22 as a result of its negative effects on the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo decrease environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now designed to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and doesn’t contain chlorine, making it ozone-friendly. You can feel good about using this refrigerant in Carson City because it’ll help make your cooling system perform efficiently, reliably and quietly, and offer the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was made prior to 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You probably should investigate upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is completely out of production. The old refrigerant will become rare in the next few years, costing you more to use your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Anderson Heating & A/C work with R-410A, so you can be sure we have an AC or heat pump that better meets your needs. Be sure to refrain from using”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
